One of my favorite and proudest memories is being asked to go across the street to Mr. Steiner to get the Gmach checks signed. To me, it was always nice to know that Dad helped run the shul Gmach.
I remember meeting Dad to go to a Mets game. I'd take the subway to the Lower East Side we'd pick up deli sandwiches from Crown's Deli in Houston street & then take the subway to Shea Stadium. The best was when they were renovating Yankee Stadium & the Yanks played at Shea & Dad would get these great tickets from his insurance agent when the Oakland A's were in town. We sat in Charlie Finley's box right next to the A's dugout. They thought we were big machers & they gave us Gatorade from the dugout. I got a broken bat from Tommy Harper.
The only Mets game I remember was my first and around the 7thinning I asked who was playing. I was out of there sent home with some of Daddy's friends.
I also remember fondly how Dad would say "Good Shabbos" when coming home from Shul on Friday night
ReplyDeleteI think I say it the same way as I walk in from shul.

ReplyDeleteWe should print this blog and save it for our grandchildren- its like the equivalent of a journal!
