We're home
Just wanted to let everyone know that b'h we are back in Baltimore from New York. We got in around 4:40, 20 minutes before Miriam had to get to class. It was really nice seeing everyone, and we all had a great time. I am not bothering to unpack since we are getting back in the car Thursday night to go to Providence. Busy , Busy- b'h.
Blogging on a Bus
I am sending this post from a Megabus about a hundred miles south of Chicago. For those of you who don't know, I was in Memphis from Wednesday night until today. I had an interview at UT on Thursday morning and stayed through Shabbos because I didn't want to miss the exciting Tu B'Shvat seder at Anshei, (which ended up being cancelled because I brought some weather with me from Chicago). I was supposed to have gone back last night, but my bus was also cancelled. So now I am finally on my way back and I just couldn't pass up this opportunity to bus blog. I think there should be a word for that. Blossing maybe? Anyway, I had really nice time in Memphis and I can't wait to see everybody again.
Just came across this
The egg story
The Weiners spent shabbos at my place. Shabbos morning I got up and found Yossi sitting on the floor with my refrigerator door open and the caton of eggs open on the floor. It was filled with eggs. It wsan't supposed to be filled since I boiled half the eggs and plaed them on the door shelf. He took those eggs off the shelf and put them where they belong in the carton. S I proceeded to give him a science lesson. If an egg spins like a dreidle then it is hard boiled and ready to eat. if it doesn't, then it is to be used to make a scrambled egg. After spinning a couple of eggs he wanted one for breakfast. He peeled the egg and then i took out my egg slicer and we sliced the egg which he then ate
When he helped me peel the eggs for shalos seudos I said we are only using 3 eggs. As he was peeling the last one I went the bathroom for a minute and came out he had the egg cartononthe floor and siad clean up. There was another egg on the table (had boiled) and another that must of slid of the table which wasn't. We both learned a lesson.

Efraht
Last night I received a call from Efraht. I guess she wanted to count to 20 and recite the ABC for me. She is really good. Then Zev got on the phone. I had a really good night. Thanks
they're here
Suri and the fam finally arrived around 11pm last night. First thing yossie did was make himself comfortable and dumped his blocks all over the floor so he and Malka could play. Malkah is still getting used to seeing me. Yossie slept on a little mat in the living room and when he woke up this morning (in a good mood), he let me do negel vasser and say modeh ani with me. We then had cereal, juice, cheese for breakfast. Yisroel and Malkah got up and then I had to leave for work. Oh yea they did earn stickers last night for cleaning up the blocks. Good Shabbos!! and don't be jealous.

Happy Anniversary!
Sick Day
Yesterday, I took a sick day because I wasn't feeling 100% and it was very windy and raining out side. I was able to make challah since Iwas home. Good thing I was home on a rainy day becaue I found out my ceiling over the dryer has leak and it was raining into my apt. The super came looked and left hopefully will fix the roof. Later that evening I was cooking chicken (for Shabbos) and drying the wet towels so around 8pm my carbon monoxide detector started beeping. I opened the windows (I had closed them most of the way since it was pouring) called 311 who called 911 and the fire dept came to check the level. Thank g-d it was zero but having over 6 big fireman in my small apt is daunting not too much room to move around.

expensive flowers
My shul held their annual raffle drawing last night. I don't even ask anybody to buy any raffles so I buy them myself. We had many consolation prizes and I won one of those. a ten dollar bouquet of flowers froma local florist. I bought myself flowers about 3 weeks ago for $5 and they are still alive. The grand prize winners were all shul members so that was nice.

Small World...
After locking myself out of my apt. at 8 am this morning with no phone, no keys, wet hair etc... I borrowed my indian neighbor's phone to call Suri who has the only number I know by heart. She was already in school but was kind enough to try and call my friend who would hopefully be able to get me a key and rescue me. After waiting and waiting, davening, and feeling lonely for an hour and a half 2 men who call themselves CHAVEIRIM came to rescue me. Suri had called them to come help me. After ten minutes of them forcing pins and tools in my lock, I toldthe chaveirim how impressed I am with such an organization as I am coming from out of town. The "chaver" asked me where I'm from, I said Memphis. He said "O I know some people from Memphis". I answered, "O who?". and He begins his list starting with "ARyeh Samberg .." I excitedly told him (Bentzion Weiss) "Thats my dad". He knows Abba from Neveh days and he asked about Uncle Yossi too.

Should I be Worried?
When I first started work, I thought it was funny that my supervisor's name was Chavez. I thought it was weird when I found out that one of my co-workers' last name was Castro and he sat next to a guy whose first name is Fidel. I started getting suspicious when I saw that one of our customers has name that is very similar to Kim Jung Il (although I can't reveal the actual name for legal reasons (and because then they may know that I'm on to them)). But I only started getting really scared this week, when someone named Husseinejad started working there. Its just too many coincidences. I think I may need to give Jack Bauer a call.

Gang Green
To all you football fans, I just found out from my clients that "Gang Green" is 2 words and a nick name for the NY Jets. I would hear that on TV and radio and always thought it was a player they were referring to. Shows I know less about football than baseball!
Northwest Coupons
I just bought 4 coupons for Pesach flights. $250 off. (cost was $135) One for Miriam & 3 for the Weiners. Anyone else out there need any? Yisroel- you want to tell your parents about it? Are they serious about coming to Memphis for Pesach?

Good Shabbos!
Its been a VERYY busy week here. I have 3 finals left out of the 9. Monday night is when the bells of (temporary) freedom will IY"H ring.
I am highly looking forward to this shabbos, which I will be spending in Rockville, MD which is right out of Washington, DC. I am going to be apart of a small kiruv training Shabbaton at the Famous Lori(almost live) Palatnik. I can't wait to tell you how nice it was, and share my experience there.
P.S. I have to write a ginormous paper on a woman from Tanach. But, it can't be on any of the woman that we have covered in class which is like almost ALL of them. So if anyone has any ideas of an uncommon woman in tanach, please let me know. Missin Everyone.

Cool Coincidence
Yesterday I had the high privilege of speaking between mincha & maariv as the rabbi went out of town for a few days. I was learning sefer Olas Tamid on the prayer, Adon Olam.
We were up to the words "Vtzur Chevli" & he translates the words using "Chevlei Leida" (birth pains). At which point I use the Lamaze translation, "manageable discomfort" which gets me on a tangent of how when Ima was pregnant with Suri I went to the Steipler Rav ztz"l to get a bracha that Ima should have an easy labor, which then gets me to the fact that his bracha was fulfilled as Suri was nearly born in the taxi because that was the night that Jerusalem defeated Tel Aviv for the basketball championship and the kvish to Y'lem was a like a parking lot packed with revelers honking their horns & cheering.
As I'm right in the middle of all this, my cell phone rings & the caller ID says it's Suri calling, so I answer it & it was Yossi.
I thought that was cool & so did everyone there.
