Esti Learned to Swim

In the last few days Esti has learned to swim. Today at the Abis' pool she swam from one side to the other several times. We're very proud of her. None of the drama or the comedy that all you others (especially Yaakov) put us thru in the process.

Welcome Chana Leah!

The baby has been named Chana Leah named after Yisroel's grandmother of blessed memory, who recently passed away.

We are proud that Chana Leah bears the name of this wonderful woman who among her many sacrifices for Torah, moved to Memphis (hint hint) to give her 3 daughters a Torah education.

We pray that Chana Leah will live up to this great legacy & will bring Nachas to her parents, grandparents & great grandparents & all of us for many healthy years to come.

Aunt Hilda should also be happy now as she had asked us to name Suri, "Chana Leah" after Anita. I guess now we know, 25 years later, why our Ruach Hakodesh, that one gets when choosing a name, compelled us otherwise.

Shabbos

I had a very nice Shaboss with all the Bodners. There are so many grandchildren that were there too. Where they live is no way like 44th st but at lunch we were reminiscing about the Shul and the block etc. They said Reb Joseph passed away recently. The shul is also not the same. Bais Yaakov has Pearl's name on it now.

Meir Army Update

Meir asked me to spread the word that his giyus is as a Chovesh Kravi, which means that he will drafted as a Combat Medic. He's very happy about it as he was thinking to apply for that.

So whoever has Dad's Silver Star citation for his bravery as a Medic, please scan it or re-type it here. That would be a nice touch.

Shabbat Shalom!

My computer

Naomi - you think you are computer illiterate? I turned off the computerand then received a call from someone sending me an important email to read and respond to. I went to turn on my computer and couldn't get internet connection. I was furious as the tech left less thatn 2 hours before. I called and was connected to Costa Rica. He couldn't fix the problem so he transferred me to the Phillipines. He couldn'tfix it so he transferrd me to his supervisor. Meanwhile I checked the wires like they asked and found out that a couple of the plugs weren't plugged in well. I guess they dislodged when I put back my ironing board on the side of my computer table. I felt like I was living a joke. Check to see if the computer is plugged in!!!
As you see I plugged in the plugs and my internet works

A Letter for Abba (Everyone else, skip to the next post)

Dear Abba,

Until I became a father, I never realized how much you taught me about how to raise a son. I have found that everything I do with Akiva, from baby talk to cute nicknames, singing and the "ah-ooo" trick , I learned from you. And when I picture us in the future, everything I think of doing with him - teaching him to swim, learning chumash, navi, and mishnayos, making him mow the lawn, building Succah - all of these are experiences that stick out vividly in mind because of the love and dedication that you invested in them when doing them with me.

Love,
Yaakov

Happy......

Happy Birthday Lisa; Happy first Fathers Day Yaakov; Happy Fathers Day Yisroel, Aryeh and Yossie; Happy Anniversary Suri and Yisroel, Yaakov & Mindy;

MY FIRST POST

HEY guys,

HOW IS EVERYONE!!!!!!! I hope this works, i'm not exactly sure what I'm doing. Anyways, i don't plan on posting a lot unless I need something. As some of you may be aware of and some not, my גיוס for the army is in a little bit more than a month, still don't have an exact date, and I am looking for a sponsor to buy me a watch which is mandatory in the army, and they are pretty expensive here. Everyone says that you should get a G-shock for the army and they look really cool. It costs about 300 shekel!!! And I'd be glad to take sponsors!!!!!!! Thanks, Hope all is well, and funny story Suri I enjoyed reading it.

all the best,
Meir

Also Happy Anniversary to Suri and Yisroel and to Yaakov and Mindy

Spam from my AOL email acct

Hi,
You've probably received a second round of garbage mail from my AOL email address. I've now changed my password & am in the process of deleting my contacts. Just make sure you use my gmail account as I'll probably just shut off the aol account especially if it happens again. Any other ideas are welcome.

Sorry for this nonsense.

Weiner Family Update

Hi Everyone!

For those of you who haven't heard the happenings in our family in the past few weeks, we just wanted to share. Last thursday Yossi slammed his finger in the door at around 5 pm. It was really hashgacha that Miriam had walked into our house the minute before and that Yisroel was off of school that afternoon and walked in the door from shopping the minute after it happened. We were able to leave Malka who was sleeping with Miriam and rushed Yossi to the ER. He needed 3 stitches in his fingernail and fractured the very tip of his middle finger on his left hand. He has been wearing a bandaid and splint all week and really hasn't complained too much. He is scheduled to get his stitches out tommorow (Thursday). Saturday night Malka came down with Croup. She had fever , a hoarse voice , and a bad cough. It was a little scary listening to her breathing, but they say it sounds worst than it is and she is getting better and was fever free today. So thats pretty much it around here. I am due in about a week (June 25) so for now we are just waiting..... (hopefully I'll get over my cold before that). Uncle Yossi- We hope you are feeling good. We were very relieved to hear about your reports. I'yh you should have a complete recovery very soon. Hope to see everyone soon for simchas! I am attempting to put a link to a web album of pics that I finally uploaded, I hope it works!

Happy birthday

Happy Birthday Dad. We really miss you.

Hope you had a good Birthday Helene.

Shul dinner

My shul dinner is over Yeah. It went pretty well. The speeches were short since there were no politicians speaking this year. A couple of glitches like the AC wasn't working well and they had to call a repaiman who came and fixed it. I didn't really get to eat much but the presentation looked good.

I'm home

I got home from Silver Spring last night before 8PM. the trip was good but Delaware only had 2 lanes open on the bridge so it took 45minutes to get through the state. Uncle Yossie is looking good. If you get a chance - please go to Aish.com and view Lori Palatnick video blog about anti homework.

Monday Evening June 7th Update

Hi- I thought I should post an update. Lots of nice visitors on Sunday. Very much appreciated by Yossie & Lisa.

Today, we walked outside & Yossie practiced going up & down stairs. A minyan of Jewish employees showed up & made a minyan for mincha here in the room.

The doctor came by twice. Recovery is going well & the only reason that Yossie is still in the hospital is because he chooses to be here at this point & because he loves the hospital food.

The pathology reports won't be ready until the earliest next Tuesday, & if they are they have an appt to see the doctor next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, I used Yossie's afternoon nap time to go to the blood bank here & donate platelets. They are so much better here than they are in Memphis. (though the guy who took care of is originally from Memphis).

They Grow Up Fast

Akiva has managed to turn over from his stomach to his back. I have heard that babies are not supposed to do this until they are a few months old, but we saw him do it twice. We are very proud of his achievement.

Uncle Yossie Update-Thurs 830p Est

Hi,
I have virtually no cell phone service in the hospital. Earlier, in the waiting room for the surgery there was good internet service. Now in the ICU Family room there is not. Right now I'm in my room in the lodge & that has internet.

B"H the doctor said everything went very well. He was able to leave 30% of the kidney in & he was able to reconnect all the "plumbing". The surgery went as good as can be, B"H. The tumor seems to be malignant but he's very confident he got it all out.

In addition, he sent part of a nearby lymph node for a pathology as well, just to be sure. He was very comfortable with his decision to do the "partial".

Uncle Yossie is in ICU & is out like a light. We went in there for a few minutes but he has not yet come out of the anesthesia. We'll check back there soon.

Everyone here is extremely nice. I asked the off duty driver of a shuttle bus here where the lodge was, he got out of his bus just to point the way to me. When I first arrived, the lady behind the information counter got out from behind there just to point the way to me. I still got lost. Then when I was lost a doctor literally changed the direction she was walking in to walk me to the elevators. Turns out they were the wrong elevators but then another doctor walked me through a lab that I wasn't supposed to be in to walk me right where Lisa was waiting.

Keep davening. Update later.
