Hi everyone! Hope all is well. Just wanted to keep you updated with our life. B'h we are settling in nicely and the kids have made some friends. I started work last week and work 3 days a week . Yisroel just started inservice and school starts for the kids and him on August 23. We are meeting people and getting a lot of invites for shabbos which is nice. We live about a 7 minute walk from the shul, which isn't so bad. The average temperature these days is 110 degrees (but its a dry heat!) and we are staying cool in the pool. The kids are making progress putting their head in the water, but not actually swimming. Chana is walking everywhere, babbling, and has 2 teeth (finally!). We are unpacked and just got dining room chairs and a kitchen table (on craigs list) and maybe once we hang up our pictures, we will take some pics of the house to show you. This picture is taken by the neighbors yard. Our yard doesn't have any cactus (or grass) and the front area is basically just rocks. Another big adjustment is that the tap water does not taste good at all so we have to only use bottled water and refill gallon bottles of water at the store. Can't wait to see you all in person- the weather is supposed to get nice here really soon! We miss you!
Does the Brita pitcher help with the water taste?
ReplyDeleteYou all look so good. Glad you are adjusting to the dry heat. I guess after being in Memphis, the 110 degree dry heat feels cool.
The Brita doesn't really help with the taste. I guess its not too much worse than Memphis, but its still not easy to get used to. = )

ReplyDeleteAt that link Memphis is ranked #6. Phoenix is #36. I found somewhere else (where both Memphis & PHX were not even mentioned) that Providence was #2.
Drinking all bottled water may deprive you of Fluoride which is added to tap water supply which is good for your teeth. On the other hand some say that the Fluoride contains arsenic & is poisoning the rest of our bodies.
Do you hit the rock or talk to it out there in the dessert. Bottom line is, who knows?
Someone told me after shul this morning that you had a sandstorm. How was that?
If you need to, you can break open the neighbors' cactus and drink the water inside.
ReplyDeleteSandstorm was actually kinda cool to see. I drove in it. The kids were COVERED in the stuff after going outside.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. You had an exodus from Egypt and now you are in the desert. I guessyou are heading in the right directoin toward the promised land. Ok you are going west to go east but then the jews wandered a few years too.
