Yartzeit

This is the year I have been thinking about for a very long time. Since this is 22nd yartzeit, I have now lived half my life w/o Mom and Dad. Its tough because all the grandchildren have no memories of them. It frustates me that I always have to explain to my kids who "Saba" and "Bobby" are. Pictures just don't do the trick.

  1. Yes, it is frustrating and unfortunate that we don't have visual memories of Saba and Bobby, but through ya'lls stories, recollections, cooking(SPAGHETTI!) you can help us learn from them. so keep them coming please.

  2. As your father said, some memories start to fade but some are very vivid. I remember mom sitting at the kitchen table every night having a cup of tea before going to bed. She had her closet with her clothing in the play room then dining room. she used the bathroom downstairs so I was the one who shared the upstairs bathroom (and cleaned up after) with the boys. she used to play solataire waiting for us to get home on saturday nights.

  3. I don't remember the solitaire. I do remember the tea with the 1 cigarette a day. (What brand was that? Salem?)

  4. Wait- why did she like to keep her clothes not in her bedroom?

  5. I didn't want to mention the cigarrette. She probably played solitaire waiting for you to come home. as for the clothes closet - There was only a very small closet in their bedroom and Mom would wear a house coat in the house and just get dressed "underneath" upstairs. When she went out she put on her clothes.

  6. I think she smoked "True" Dad put some of his stuff in the your father's closet (which then became my room after he moved out).

  7. Come to think of it we had a pretty cool house. We had a laundry chute, a nice sized basement, backyard and front yard and great stoop to sit on and play stoop ball. And of course the porch.
