Mystery solved (at least for me)

I remember when we would sit at the Fri. nite Shabbos meal and talk about how many light bulbs were out in the big star of the BethEl dome, and also wonder how they change the light bulbs. Simmy Pollack who lives here told me over Pesach that there are 2 domes witha crawl space in between them. The bulb changer would crawl in between the domes and take out the burned out one and then drop in new ones. The corner chandeliers were on a pully system. For the first time in 35 years, I am able to go to sleep w/o wondering how they chaged the bulbs.

  1. great panoramic shot of the shul on the website. I'm glad they had the good sense to shoot it in black and white so you can feel the history of Beth-El, if only for a moment

  2. Now I could sleep too. I haven't actually thought of that for many years. I hope that was and will be the only thing to worry about that keeps you up at night.
Louis, Maybe you should contact Beth El so you could participate in their annual concert next year

  3. Ben Zion Miller is my friend on Facebook. He knows how to find me if he wants me in his concert.

The Lightbulb mystery is now solved. The morons here who built the new bldg for the conservative shul here didn't take that stuff into consideration & every time they need to change the lightbulbs they have to bring in a hydraulic lift & unbolt a bunch of seats to get the lift in. It costs them a small fortune every time.

    "It's the SMALL DETAILS."
